What is Dyslexia?

Have you ever wondered why some children were unable to read despite their age?
Dyslexia is one of the most popular learning problems involving children. It literally means difficulty with reading. Children feel difficulty decoding words based on letters and their sounds. These conditions even prevail during adulthood if left untreated.
Dyslexia is a common condition that affects the way the brain processes written and spoken language. It is primarily associated with trouble in reading. However, it can also affect a child’s writing, spelling and speaking skills.

Key points to note
The children may face following problems –
- Difficulty to understand how letters make sounds and how letter combinations make words.
- Poor comprehension skills and struggle to hold information even for a short period of time and recall it in a sequence.
- Reversals and mirror imaging (b for d or p for q) of letters and words
- Skipping of difficult words or adding another word starting with same letter which is not in the line while reading
